Orientation Day #1
As you all should have know.. I am attached to Conrad Hotel for my 6 months attachment and i have started work Today.. Not much happened today as it is Orientation.. so a breakdown of what happened this 9hrs is..  6hrs of sitting in a meeting room looking at powerpoints slides.. 1.5hr lunch and 1.5hr visiting of rooms.. Learnt quite a lot of their culture which seems quite fun and enjoyable already and is really looking forward to starting work and meeting my buddies tomorrow.. In the meantime.. i shall share with you some of the highlights of today..

* Photos below are googled because it was inconvenient and inappropriate to take any photos back then and are taken from HERE and HERE. I shall credit them in case they decide to sue me on whatsoever grounds next time.

Food is the most important element and is something that no orientation can do without.. of course Conrad decide to do better and give us a taste of their awesome buffet at the OSCAR'S.. It was Lunch with GM so the GM of the restaurant came down and chatted with us while we feast on the food.. I guess they really do make it a point to tell us that Everyone of us are important towards the Conrad.. It makes us feel important to be able to dine with the one that is in charge of the whole hotel..

Per pax lunch is around $48 so since its provided.. why not indulge in it? Great food, great desserts, great service.. and again great food! (though i still prefer Kuishinbo at JP because there is Alaskan King Crab Legs there.. =P)

There is quite a number of desserts which are mainly puddings and cakes and is highly recommended by our trainers.. but i only tried one because i reserved the rest of my stomach for more important food items.. whad?

Mainly.. Crabs.. Oysters.. Lobsters.. and Prawns.. If there is anything worth eating for the price you paid.. its probably this four items.. along with some variety of sashimi which I gave it a pass.. However it being the Lunch with GM.. we do have to present ourselves in a proper manner so believe it or not.. this is the FIRST TIME.. i peeled and ate prawns.. using nothing but a fork and spoon.. im kinda amazed by myself for this.. Luckily i did not take alot because i was pretty tired by the 3rd one.. I guess if its with my friends on a casual dinner there.. my plates will be mainly shelled food and nothing else..

After lunch we were given a tour around the hotel because they understand that we feel sleepy after a full meal so if they continue with lecture we are going to have some dozing off instead.. so tour was given and i have a glimpse of what kind of rooms i can expect myself to be cleaning.. and it really isnt some easy task.. the bed itself.. is about the height of my waist.. with the matteress the size of 3 of those found at our home stacked together.. Exaggerate? no. Shockingly thick but temptingly comfortable..

I guess that is more or less it.. The bear in the first picture is a souvenir item given to all guests that stay in the hotel and for those that used their meeting rooms too.. it is used as a decoration item to hold your pen which i thought was pretty cool.. And its really cute huh?

Lastly.. i have been told that our department is on a 5 day work week so i have 2 days off per weeks which is really something that i never dreamt i will hear about.. I guess its good to keep your expectations low so that such surprises will really make your day.. Imagine the other way round where they tell you 5 day work week and you later found out you have to work 6 days.. Horrible isnt it?

Tomorrow will be the start of the serious work.. hopefully im not too tired to tell you all about it.. stay tune..
